Jewellery Care Guide

Sterling Silver

All Licensed to Charm jewellery is handmade with high quality 925 Sterling Silver.

  • Silver jewellery is best cleaned with a specialist jewellery cloth or cleaner. It can also be very carefully cleaned with lukewarm soapy water and a cloth or soft toothbrush.
  • To keep your Silver jewellery immaculate, we recommend you avoid contact with perfume, deodorant and cleaning chemicals, including chlorine. It is best to avoid wearing the jewellery overnight, in the shower and in chlorinated swimming pools, thermal baths or the sea. We recommend keeping your jewellery away from extreme temperatures or humidity.
  • Silver jewellery can naturally oxidise causing the colour to darken, this can be removed with a jewellery cloth. To prevent this happening, we recommend storing your jewellery individually in a closed jewellery box out of sunlight, this will also prevent it from getting scratched or getting tangled with other jewellery.

Oxidisation

Some of the Licensed to Charm designs have been oxidised to help bring out the minute details in the charms, this is the darkening of the sterling silver.

Cleaning oxidised charms with silver cleaner may remove the colouration and make the details less distinct.

Plated Jewellery

Selected pieces of Licensed to Charm jewellery are available in 18ct gold vermeil, this is 18ct yellow gold plating on solid sterling silver. Prolonged wear can cause the plating to become thin and the silver colour to show through, in this case items can be re-plated if desired (please contact us for details of this service).

Sterling silver jewellery cleaner cannot be used on plated designs.

Charms & Soldering

All charms are available with a lobster catch or jump ring to attach them to the bracelet with. If the variety you are looking for does not appear on the website please contact us as it can be made for you.

To keep charms secure on all children’s charm bracelet sets and pendants, they are sent out with the charms soldered on in the position depicted on the website, for alterations please contact us. Soldering is a method used to ‘seal’ the jump ring, or loop, eliminating the very small gap and keeping the charm more secure.

Should you have any problems with your jewellery within 6 months of purchase they are covered by a 6 months warranty, this does cover manufacture faults, re-soldering and re-plating, but does not cover accidental damage or loss. We will require your proof of purchase for the warranty. Please contact sales@licensedtocharm.com for further details.
